Chamblee Picks Up Two First Round State Tennis Playoff Victories (2025)
The Chamblee Bulldog boys’ and girls’ high school tennis teams came away with first round Class 5A state playoff wins to advance to the Sweet 16 next week.
The boys’ team got the 2025 state playoffs off to a quick start coming away with a 3-0 win over Dutchtown at Chamblee on Monday afternoon.
The No. 1 doubles team of William Hackney and Alex Coursey swept Dutchtown’s duo of Jordan Gray and Lewis Norman 6-0, 6-0 to notch Chamblee’s first point of the match.
Chamblee’s Landon Marcus put the second point of the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Dutchtown’s Jaylen Coley to make it 2-0 Chamblee.
Kavi Pallan as up 4-1 at No. 3 singles over Eric Nguyen and the No. 2 doubles team of Sid Hore an Own Flake led 3-0 when the Bulldogs clinched the win.
The clinching point came at No. 1 singles as Jacob Dorland cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dutchtown’s Noah Gumioo.
Chamblee (9-3) moves on the second round to host the winner of Pope and Gainesville next week.
The girls’ squad traveled to Northgate for their first-round matchup knocking off the home team 4-1 to advance to the Sweet 16 for another road match at Pope, a 3-0 first-round winner over Johns Creek, next Monday at 2:30 pm.
Brookly Bowman won her No. 2 singles match against Northgate’s Mi Morris by a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the first of four straight wins by Chamblee.

The No. 1 doubles team of Olivia Klein and Kei Henderson swept both sets with matching scores of 6-2, 6-2 against Melis Savid and Violet Valentino. The duo of Samantha Yarbrough and Isobel Briseno gave Chamblee a sweep of the doubles with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win over Avery Markham and Brooklyn Baker.
Northgate’s only win came in the form of a 6-1, 6-0 victory by Ryan Griffin over Chamblee’s Hwiho Kim at No. 1 singles.
