    Chamblee Cruises Past Glynn Academy into Class 5A Boys Tennis Elite 8

    The Chamblee Bulldogs swept the Glynn Academy Terrors 4-0 without losing a set to advance to the Class 5A boys’ state playoffs Elite Eight on Monday at Hudlow Tennis Center.

    Chamblee’s No. 1 doubles team of Alex Coursey and Owen Flake chalked up the first point in the win for the Bulldogs by taking the first set against Glynn’s Max Melton and Pearce Vinson 6-0. The Bulldog pair jumped out 5-0 in the second before closing it out 6-1 to secure the first point.

    A Bulldog sweep came in the singles as Chamblee’s Sid Hore and Miles Berry teamed up to knock off Landon Baily and McClain Hooper. The first set went to the Bulldogs 6-2. The Bulldog duo swept ahead 5-0 on Hore’s last service game of the match. The Terrors took game six of the match before Berry served out for the win at 6-1 to move Chamblee within one match of the Elite 8.

    Chamblee No. 1 singles player Jacob Dorland and No. 2 singles player Landon Marcus finished simultaneously in another pair of straight set wins. Dorland eased to a 6-0 win in the opening set at No. 1 singles and finished off a 6-1 second set win against Glynn’s Weston Wells to close out the 2-0 sweep.

    Marcus opened a 3-2 advantage on Glynn’s James Kavanaugh before breaking his opponent twice and winning his serve again to close out a 6-2 win in the opening set. Marcus got out to an early lead in the second set and cruised to a 6-1 win for the Bulldogs.

    At No. 3 singles, Chamblee’s Kavi Pallan rolled 6-0 in the opening set and was up 4-2 when the match was called.

    The Bulldogs improved to 17-0 on the season and will travel to Coffee in the Elite 8 round. Coffee downed Newnan 4-0 to move into the Elite 8.
